We support Adif in the deployment of its 5G network
We will handle the PMO in logistics and railway terminals to drive digitalization, process automation and cost reductions for transportation
We continue to support Adif in a long-term strategic project. We have been awarded its public tender for project management office services, site management and technical assistance involved in the deployment of 5G networks.
The €3.35 million contract, paid for by the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (NextGenerationEU), will have a three-year duration.
The railway company published two 5G deployment tenders: the first for logistics terminals, awarded to Nokia and Tradia Telecom for the amount of €20.5 million, and the second, which has not yet been awarded, for five high-speed railway lines for the value of €104 million. Our work consists of managing the two projects and monitoring quality.
By rolling out 5G for these railway infrastructures and corridors, Adif seeks to drive digitalization, ensure advanced connectivity services, automate processes and lower railway freight shipping costs.
Experience in 5G for transportation and logistics
In 2021, we were awarded a contract to define Adif’s telecommunications strategy. The railway company faced the challenge of entering the telecommunications market in light of the vast capacity of assets being operated, with more than 16,000 km of fiber-optic cable, and rolled out, harnessing the capillarity of its train station network to become a key player in the 5G business. Nae is supporting Adif throughout the process, from defining the strategy to implementing it.
We have also formed part of the 5G Catalunya pilot project, a consortium led by Cellnex Telecom and the MásMóvil Group that has carried out seven use cases with 5G technology in areas such as logistics, education and public safety. We are also helping the Port of Barcelona upgrade to next-generation networks and implement a private 5G network.
